Help customers take action
Menus, bookings, quote requests, online shops, appointment pages and recruitment can be reached from signs, packaging and business cards.
A proposed business-support initiative for the Economic Development Team: memorable links, reusable QR codes and practical help for local organisations.
Prepared for discussion. No City endorsement, agreement or funding is implied.
A proposal for the City of Joondalup Economic Development Team: help local businesses connect customers to existing online services through memorable short links and managed QR codes.
Menus, bookings, quote requests, online shops, appointment pages and recruitment can be reached from signs, packaging and business cards.
When only the online destination changes, the managed redirect can be updated without replacing the printed code. Changed printed content still needs replacement.
A managed service gives participating businesses a contact for setup and changes, with no need to operate their own link-management software.
Invite 10–20 businesses from a mix of retail, hospitality, trades, professional services and community-facing organisations.
Review the actual administration and business benefit before considering a wider program. Link visits indicate traffic, not completed purchases or applications.
Pilot pricing and ongoing terms would be agreed in a written quote. No City funding or participation is assumed.
The City could promote an approved opportunity through business channels. Businesses contract with and pay the operator directly.
The City could purchase a defined introductory package for an agreed group, subject to its approval and purchasing requirements.
If the pilot demonstrates value, consider a volume package with agreed onboarding, reporting, branding and support responsibilities.
Choose a memorable character, abbreviation, business name or descriptive word. Short slugs are subject to availability and approval.
| Format | Illustrative address | Possible use |
|---|---|---|
| 1 character | coj.au/b | Business support campaign |
| 2 characters | coj.au/cf | A participating café |
| 3 characters | coj.au/gym | Fitness business campaign |
| Word / business name | coj.au/businessname | An approved local business website |
| Nested path | coj.au/su/pth | A configured redirect to PTH.AU |
Examples are illustrative, not active offers or confirmed allocations. Nested paths use separate segments, such as /su/pth; they are not two consecutive slash characters. Each full path must be configured.
A separate future workstream could explore City communications, subject to technical assessment and authorisation.
Potential links such as coj.au/bins, coj.au/events and coj.au/library could direct residents to approved official information.
A shared rates link could lead to the official portal. Individual notice links would require City-controlled verification, approved batch processing and checks that each link matches the correct notice.
Agree domain control, renewal responsibility, permitted destinations, change approvals, incident response, data retention and an exit arrangement before use.
Secure notice access stays with the City. A short link must not be the only protection for private rates information. No rates documents, credentials or personal account data would be hosted on these presentation pages.
Potential benefits should be tested against the existing process, rather than assumed.
| Potential benefit | How to assess it |
|---|---|
| Less replacement printing | Count cases where changing only the destination avoided replacement artwork or signs. |
| Less link administration | Compare staff effort before and during the pilot. |
| Easier customer access | Gather business and customer feedback; review link visits. |
| Value for money | Compare measured benefits with service, production and administration costs. |
No guaranteed savings, participation levels or conversion outcomes are claimed. QR codes alone do not reduce postage; electronic-delivery adoption would be a separate outcome.
COJ.AU is part of the ShortURL.com.au network of managed short-link and QR services.
PTH.AU can serve Perth-based businesses, from bookings and menus to quotes, recruitment and promotions.
A nested address such as coj.au/su/pth can be configured to redirect to PTH.AU. Ask us to arrange the complete path and destination.
Explore PTH.AU for a Perth-focused short-link identity, or COJ.AU for the campaign and service that suits your organisation.
The printed code can stay the same when it encodes your managed short link. We update the redirect destination, provided the link remains active under the service agreement.
Yes, subject to availability, approval and the applicable quote. Three-character and descriptive word slugs are also available to discuss.
Yes. Print the short address alongside the QR code so people can type it in a browser. Keep other contact options where appropriate.
COJ.AU provides managed links and QR artwork. It does not list live vacancies or accept job applications here. The Joondalup page is an independent proposal, not an official council service or endorsed partnership.
No. Manual approval helps control destinations, but does not guarantee safety. Sensitive services must retain authentication and access controls in the destination system. Printed QR placements also need checking for tampering.
Send your preferred link, destination website and intended use. We’ll confirm availability, scope and pricing.
